My name is Liz and I am a Fitbit Addict. I ♥ my Fitbit!
The Fitbit Alta is a stylish little watch style wristband which counts your steps among other things and encourages you to do at least 10,000 steps per day (the recommended amount). According to the NHS website, the average Brit totals just 3,000-4,000 steps a day.
For me, all started with a ‘Flex’ 2 years ago. Me and the OH both bought them to see how much we walked and to try to be more active. At the time I was teaching, so did a lot of steps. I recently invested in a Fitbit Alta, as I liked the neatness of the Flex but felt like I needed the display/watch function.
The competitiveness of Fitbit is fantastic, I am always in app challenges with the OH, mum and sister to see who can do the most steps in a day/week/weekend. I’ve been known to be walking around the flat in my pjs at 11.45pm trying to complete my daily steps/win a challenge!
This particular Fitbit can also track your sleep quality, exercise, food, weight and water intake. It can work out the type of exercise you were doing (weird!), and encourages you to take a certain no. of steps every hour. For Weight Watchers members – it can also connect to your account and adds ‘Fitpoints’.
I would encourage you to get one of these gizmos (other brands are available) if you are interested to monitor how much activity you do and would like to be more active.
